Flyball Governor: An Assemblage of Objects

This way-cool sculpture appeared this week on the grounds of Sutherland Mill (next to the new Saint Sebastian Bridge over canal). By Roger Finch. Created from objects salvaged from this former thread and spinning mill. There are several ‘hidden’ pieces of art down at this end of the Canal.

I just chatted with a Red Hat Lady. She wanted to bring her group on a Canal Moonlight Music Cruise. I described one of our upcoming performers as “Classic Rock and Pop,” but she couldn’t hear me too well, because she wanted to know, “what is this, this classy rock and the pop?” Perhaps like the Beatles, I suggested. James Taylor, Crosby Still and Nash? “Oh, for the younger crowd, then?” she replied. That made this baby-boomer smile.

We try to plan some something many tastes for our Moonlight Cruises. I hope the Red Hatters find something to their liking. It is always fun to have them onboard.

It’s been great to see so many tourists come take the Canal tour this week. I like to check the guest book to see where they’re from. TX, WI,CT,MT, MO, CA, NY, IN, KY, UK. Plus a bunch of Augusta visitors who’ve brought along their out-of-towners. Fun to share our area non-golf history with them.

Bridge, Trail section closed 4/12 to 4/15

April 12-15 the Pedestrian Bridge near Reed Creek and the trail below the Lock Keeper’s Cottage that leads to it will be closed for construction. You can still cross at the Headgate, just like the good old days.
